81 Lawn Mowers

Studies show that the average neighborhood in America has 81 lawn mowers. Each of these neighborhoods could easily get by with 3 or 4 lawn mowers total if all the neighbors were willing to share. Why is there a need for 81 lawn mowers? Each neighborhood could save $40,000 + following this concept.

Same holds true for the church. Why does every church in town need to have its own Divorce Recovery Groups, Awana Program, Concerts, etc? Wouldn't it be more effective for churches to jump "all in" and give 100% to what God has called them to do and encourage cooperation between churches and what they have been called to do? Not sure when "doing church" became a competition in America but I don't think it was ever God's plan.

There are some communities that do an excellent job at this, but I think they are the exception rather than the rule. Hope to see my neighborhood churches move in that direction in the near future to bring people closer to Him. Let's get rid of all the cheap junk that's done half-hearted and use our resources to give Him our best.

Good point Mike. Our neighborhood only has one snow blower! Mine. I do the neighbors so they save money. he he he

Does me good to get out of the easy chair to get out in the cold in the winter weather. I enjoy it though.

It would do the churches good to work together as well. We are all here for the same purpose so why not come together.

I suppose if we had more marriage building workshops in which the couples spent time daily with God individually and together, there would be much less of a need for any divorce recovery workshops. However, it would be good to combine many of the duplicated church programs (and even combine many churches) to build more unity and save more time and money. As for the lawn mower idea, I doubt that would be a good one. I do not see how that would save money. The total hours that it takes to mow all the lawns would be the same whether one lawn mower is used or 100 are used. So, if a lawn mower lasts a certain number of total hours, how would it matter whether two lawn mowers were used for 100 hours per week, or 100 lawn mowers were used for 1 hour each per week. The total hours per each lawn mower would be the same. Only having a couple lawn mowers would be incredibly difficult for each person to use when he or she needed it or could use it, and much time and frustration would result as most people would not be able to use the lawn mower when needed. A neighborhood would wear out a couple lawn mowers at a much faster pace than one owner would wear out one mower. I doubt any money at all would be saved, and in fact more time and money would be wasted in having to continually purchase lawn mowers, try to find out when a lawn mower would be available, etc.

Wow! Not much going on in this journey of faith, is there? Only about five posts in about seven months.
